Message-ID: <1991Mar14.084434.8199@colorado.edu> Date: 14 Mar 91 08:44:34 GMT Sender: news@colorado.edu (The Daily Planet) Organization: University of Colorado, Boulder, Department of Computer Science Lines: 32 Originator: billp@anchor.colorado.edu Nntp-Posting-Host: anchor.colorado.edu I have a Mac IIx that is networked as follows: 1. Connection via Appletalk port to QMS-PS410 laser printer. 2. Connection via Kinetics Etherport II ethernet card to Ethernet and Sun Workstations. - I print via most all the applications to Appletalk. - I want to back up the hard disk and telnet into the Sun's via the ethernet card. I reviewing the Kinetics (sparse) documentation, it seems that the OS or maybe Ethernet driver is set up so that only one connection or the other can be active, but not both simultaneously. I would rather not reboot the Mac to telnet or back it up. Am I stuck w/ TOPS? Does anyone know how to do what I am trying to do? Have done it? (I want to backup to the Sun's tape drive or hard disk w/ Retrospect) If anyone can help me out, please email and I will summarize to the net if anyone else needs to know how to do this. MAC OS 6.0.4 Kinetics Ethernet Driver 2.51 Thanks! Bill -- o Bill Pachoud _ /-_ billp@portal.com (_)>(_)
