Maybe you should select it from the DA menu first and see if it needs configuring. *THEN* try to print something (not before). Also, make sure you have enough free memory, or it won't run (although in that case you should bet a -49 error dialog). As for hanging the machine, yes, you definitely want to avoid selecting it from the MultiFinder application list in the Apple menu, *and* avoid selecting it by clicking the icon at the right end of the menu bar.
