Many programs which are both Inits and > CDevs do not work with System 7.0b1. Hopefully either the > utilities or the system software will correct this before 7.0r1 ships. I was able to get QK running under 7.0b1 by putting it in the Extensions folder and putting an alias into the Control Panels (cdev) folder. I can't think of any reason this would be necessary -- Control Panels get run at boot time as well as Extensions (INITs) -- except the usual load- order problems we've always had with INITs and cdevs. There's an experimental (with expiration date in April, I think) version of QuicKeys2 on AppleLink that runs just fine under 7.0b1 and b4. The associated CE Toolbox allows me to run DiskTop and DT Launch as well (ah...). In most cases, the workaround for cdev/init problems is just to reclutter your System folder... =Ned Horvath= ehorvath@attmail.com
