Subject: 040 upgra causes "pauses" ? Advice needed

We've just upgraded to th 040 CPU on one of our NeXTs and I noticed
some peculiar behavior:  If we r demos....like scene or molecule,
things do happen MUCH faster than before, but they experiences 
"pauses".  Example: molecules spin VERY fast, then pause for a moment,
then spin fast again....and this continues.  Running various "movies"
in scene ......they are not continuous.....as they were with the 030...
they move very quickly, then pause, then move, then pause, etc.

Can anyone advise me....if you've upgraded to 040 and 2.0 already,
do you experience this same sort of behavior witscene, molecule, and
other apps am worried that something was damaged during the
upgrade process, or that we have a buggy new board, or some such
painful problem.
