I've been able to change the parity in 'tip
' (in the .remote file) with pa=none, but I don't know how the
set the data bits from 7 to 8.  I'm dialing up a VAX/VMS host;
one of the campuses uses 7,E,1, but the other uses 8,N,1, and
generally that's what I'd like as a default.

I'm NOT very familiar with either programming or unix, so I
need specific examples.
