A while back, I asked for information regarding upgrading a Tandy 1000 TL computer. For those who don't know what I am talking about, here's a briefing: I have a Tandy 1000 TL computer with an 80286, running at 8-Mhz, with 768K of memory. The memory has mainly 18+ (I forgot) 256K chips, running at 150 ns. My question in mind is this: Will the 1000 TL have at least a 10% increase in performance if I replace the memory with 120 or 100 ns chips, and/or replace the 80286-8 with a 80286-12? I know, I know. This is the second/third time I am doing this, but I lost track of some stuff, and the file version of the replies were 'lost'. But this time, I need to know. Anyhow, to make me more convinced that this upgrade will work or not is this: actual use of the faster chips/CPU, OR from technical information. I'll mention that replacing the oscillator with a faster one will tend to speed things up. That much I recall vividly. Also, if anyone has the Technical books for the 1000 TL, please, I need to ask you a few things about the motherboard. Also number 2, if anyone has found a way to read raw-data sound files (i.e. SoundBlaster, Macs) and then use the 1000 TL/SL's DAC, PLEASE, let me know. All I have is a program called PLAY.EXE by R.E. Sindelar; it works nice, but I need programs related to this. If you are out there, Mr. Sindelar, I WANT to talk to you about your program (possible registration). Argh...boy was this long...but thanks for reading this, and I appreciate your advise and help. Also, I will make a summary for the upgrade and the DAC stuff. *************************************************************************** Yung D.
