What about the poor chaps (and chappesses!) who work in real time and need a competent real time OS - which POSIX cannot provide, at least not yet (wait out for POSIX II with real time extensions). If you are hacking in VMS the POSIX compliance won't be comming for at least 18 months and when it does come any sensible system manager will steer clear of VMS7.whatever until quite a while after that so someone else can find the bugs in it!
