Because we thought some people might find it useful. It was fairly easy to port the MIT monochome driver, and allowed us to get X running fairly quickly for our internal development. So, we have included it on our last several releases, figuring that someone could make use of it while the TIGA and multi-bitplane drivers were being developed (essentially from scratch; MIT and AT&T don't provide those). Now that the TIGA driver is working quite nicely, and X11R4 is ported, the X folks don't have much left to do besides the multi-bitplane driver. Well, I guess there's always optimization. -=] Ford [=- "The number of Unix installations (In Real Life: Mike Ditto) has grown to 10, with more expected." ford@amix.commodore.com - The Unix Programmer's Manual, uunet!cbmvax!ditto 2nd Edition, June, 1972. ford@kenobi.commodore.com
