Message-ID: <5957@optilink.UUCP> Date: 18 Mar 91 23:07:33 GMT Organization: Optilink Corporation, Petaluma, CA Lines: 25 I've told all of you about my problems getting a clone using the Everex 1800A motherboard to run Windows 3.0 in extended memory mode. I had finally persuaded myself to live with using expanded memory instead -- at least for my immediate needs (running Excel 2.1), it was OK. So I bought the Excel 3.0 upgrade. Microsoft shipped it in record time. I put the installation disk in drive A, and follow instructions. I am informed that I don't have enough memory. According to the enclosed materials, Excel 3.0 requires at least 1MB of RAM -- and 3MB expanded memory apparently is not an adequate substitute. I know when I'm licked. It's time to buy a new motherboard for my system. I would dearly love a list of motherboard makers that is ABSOLUTELY certain to work with Windows 3.0 and extended memory. Does anyone need a motherboard that doesn't run Windows 3.0? -- Clayton E.
