If the objective is the odor and not the experience of synthesis, you might want to try your local outdoor/hunting store. I noticed that my local gun store was carrying what is billed as genuine skunk odor for use as a human scent masker for deer hunting. It's multi-barrier packaging leads me to believe that it is the real stuff. I'll probably grab a bottle on my next trip.
