Greetings everyone

I am writing a query optimizer for a home brew relational database machine and
I noticed the tutorial in the upcoming SIGMOD about Magic Sets wrt query
optimization.

Can anyone give me some references in the literature that provide a good
introduction to this topic? Your help is greatly appreciated. Please respond
