It keeps track of how many copies of a particular program may be running at any one time. For Novell only a company called (i think) Rainbow Technologies has such a product. I'm sketchy about it because I need something like for TCP/IP on Ethernet and the product is only on Novell IPX networks at present so I filed the info in volatile storage. But I remember I called the company and they were in Southern California (seems I rememver a 213 area code). Plus I found out about them through PC Week, the weekly newspaper from the PC Magazine people. Pretty sure it was in 1991. You can probably check the library for back issues. Hope this helps. If you come across a license server that runs on Unix and TCP/IP. Please drop me a line. Dana Bourgeois @ cup.portal.com
