I mean, it has been proven time and time again that IBM PCs are *not* the fastest, most reliable, technologically ahead, etc. PC out there. Yet, they sell a boat load due to the three letters on the case. With modems it's 5 letters :). Past laurels can sustain one for a long time unless you do something disastrous to kill the halo effect. Hayes has not done anything real bad... nothing real good lately (IMHO) either , but the image remains.
