I've got this ancient version of perl, version 3.0, patch level12, that I got off of a GNU tape just before Christmas. perl 4.0 is now available and I've got no way to get it. I can read this news group but I can't partake in a lot of code posted here, it does not run with version 3.0 (no splice for instance). My company does not provide ftp, uucp, or even Usenet access. To access the Usenet I use the WELL computer in S.F., and pay a monthly fee. They provide no ftp or uucp support either. I access the WELL thru kermit, so I can kermit stuff from the WELL to my pc, then up to our VAX. I've tried logging on to UUNET's 1-900-GOT-SRCS but have not been able to get thru, and then I don't know if they support kermit. I've been telling everyone around work how great perl is and now people are getting interested, I hadn't realized I have this ancient version. So, is there some other way to get perl 4.0? I once mailed D.G. an HP cassette, with return postage, and he put his emacs calculator on it for me. Any help is greatly appreciated. Greg Strockbine, dataproducts, woodland hills, ca.
