Message-ID: <1991Mar21.003239.24949@ux1.cso.uiuc.edu> Date: 21 Mar 91 00:32:39 GMT Sender: usenet@ux1.cso.uiuc.edu (News) Organization: University of Illinois at Urbana Lines: 19 Does anyone know what the format is for the *.au sound file format....I believe this format is used for files on suns...I would like to be able to convert them to a format which I can play on my IBM PC using my Sound Blaster card (a .voc or .snd file would be acceptable). If there is a converter somewhere at an ftp site, please let me know. If not, I am willing to write my own.... all I need is the information regarding the format.... Is this format just an a-Law (or perhaps a mu-Law) companded sample? Does it have 8 bit resolution? How about a header? If anyone knows the answer to these questions, please leave me a note on the net or e-mail.
