I've played with slip connections a bit at 9600, and haven't had any major
problems.  Only had one active session at a time, and was doing pings 
between each host just to see how things went.  The session seemed
alright and the pings were timeed around 240ms per.  
 
Don't know if it'll help at all.  I'm just getting started in all this 
mess myself.
