I thought about this myself and came up with the same rules used in art, which basically lets you use other's images in your own image. For an extreme case of that, there was a show in NYC a couple of years ago by a photographer - I forget her name - who exhibited a series of photo- graphs of other peoples' works. The original works were all in colour, while her photographs were black and white. While many people questioned whether this was "art," nobody accused her of copyright infringement. She also credited the other artists, which I do as well in the form of crediting Commodore-Amiga and noting their copyright not only on the original images (which I've never seen expressly stated) but a co-copyright on the new images I made which were directly related to their old images. I tried to keep many of the icons identifiabily the same, so that people wouldn't get too confused when seeing them. (On the other hand, having always hated the old Preferences icons - the big question marks always reminded me of The Riddler from _Batman_ - and all the ugly printer icons, I came up with entirely new ones for those. You can pretty much say the same thing for the format and several other icons.) On top of all that, I'm not requiring payment (tho' if anyone wants to send me stuff, it'd be O-Tay By Me! :-) ) so I _really_ don't think it's a problem. Maybe this could turn into something; the Amiga Icon Replacement Project. :-) - R'ykandar. -- R'ykandar Korra'ti | Editor, LOW ORBIT Science and Fiction "I hate you, you timepiece from Hades." - Plucky Duck phoenix@ms.uky.edu | editor@lorbit.UUCP | ukma!lorbit!editor
