I don't know what happened to Synapse, but I'm sure they are no longer in
business.  I haven't seen their name for years.   As to MULE, Seven Cities
of Gold and many others, they are done here in the States by Electronic
Arts.  EA is very much alive (last I heard anyway) and most of their
items are still available.  They have dropped (all?) support for the 
Atari 8bit though, so you will only find software for us through some
of the companies that advertize in American Atari magazines, such as
STart.  Best, American TechnaVision and B&C Computers come to mind as
the best bet here in the US.
