It *will* boot from >a floppy though. From my experience this sounds like an interrupt conflict. Do you have a 16-bit hard drive/floppy drive controller? If not, they you definitely have an interrupt problem. If you do have a 16-bit HD/FD controller, try setting your Trident card to 8-bit mode operation (this should either be a jumper change or a dip switch change, depending on the version of the Trident VGA board). Also, make sure that you have the appropriate memory setting on the VGA board, some clone companies don't set the jumpers properly (so it won't be correct out of the box).
