Keywords: CMOS, Mars, Epson, Scanner Sender: news@engin.umich.edu (CAEN Netnews) Reply-To: mjo@ais.org Organization: Artificial Intelligence Society Distribution: na Date: Tue, 19 Mar 1991 16:47:32 GMT Recently, I tried to install a Mars 105 Scanner into an Epson AT. After doing so, I have found that the CMOS on the machine becomes intermittently corrupted upon cold boot. Roughly 1/2 the time -- 5 times out of 9, so far, a cold boot flushes the CMOS on the machine, replacing it with totally wrong specifications. The card's specifications say that one should just be able to plug it in and it will work as a serial device (COM4). I tried two different slots to plug it into, but the problems persisted. Has anyone had similar problems with this scanner? Has anyone possibly had any similar problems with Epson ATs? ...Mike Internet: mjo@ais.org Domain UUCP: mjo@ttardis.UUCP Bang UUCP: ...!uunet!sharkey!cfctech!ttardis!mjo
