You can run Unix, load X, etc... Disable the cache and you will notice it. ;-) BUT you can't load X with adb, for example (SCO unix, Roell's X386, no, it is not working :-( ) I added 4 more Mb and it works ok. So I would say it pays to have 8 Mb. Big BUT: Everex Step's don't let you add more memory without adding cache! (I borrowed the memory, I'm not buying cache so I disabled it.) If you want 8 Mb, you need 128 K cache. Just to let everybody know about it...
