The text editor and spelling checker are provided FREE with the 1100FD, you don't have to pay $200 more dollars to get something which may be better. On a single floppy drive system it IS very convenient to be able to call up a text editor by simply hitting a function key and not having to swap out floppies. Plus, isn't MS-Works a Windows application? The 1100FD simply can't handle Windows. (I may be wrong about the MS-Works being Windows based, but seems like I read that somewhere ...)
