I need help in The Colony (which Egghead Discount centers have for $9).

Some spoilers are in the questions, so if you haven't gotten to level 5 yet,
don't read any further.

I've killed the queens on levels 1-5.  I then went back to the ship and
boosted my armor and weapons to full power, came back, and cleaned up
everything except the queen in the reactor room.

1) Is the Level 8 queen invicible at my level?  I just blast away at
   her at close range and nothing seems to happen.  She shoots me a
   few times, and I get terminated.

2) Is it possible for my suit to draw power from the reactor?  Am I
   dying because I don't have enough weapons and armor power for
   the top level, and therefore have my lifeforce sucked out?

3) Do I have to kill the level 8 queen in order to eliminate
   totally all of the non-egg aliens, so that I can get into the
   (unarmed) forklift and get the reactor core without being sucked
   dry?

4) are the boxes merely for dropping into the holes in level 7 so that
   the forklift can go over them (my guess)?  Can I drop boxes into the holes
   at other levels to make a walking surface?  Am I missing something
   because I haven't used the forklift to clear a path to some other
   place on level 5?

5) Is there any way out of the dimensional traps (e.g. the monolith room)?

6) Am I missing something basic?
