One of my committee members is experiencing problems with the
serial ports of his Mac Portable.  He thinks that once upon a
time there was an INIT which fixes the problem.  That there
was a problem with the serial ports seemed vaguely familiar
to me but I thought they were fixed via updated system software.

Can anyone fill in the details on the supposed port problem.
Was there a problem?
Was there a software fix?  Init?  System Patch?

I'll win some big brownie points for this one.
Please help me.  I'd help you if I could.
