HELP!

I am trying to user colour and it isn't working.

I have a MacII with 4meg RAM. 
I have a colour monitor set to 256 colours

I have a PICT resource in the scrapbook. It is a red rectangle.
First, I copy it into the clipboard
Then I use the command picture "Red Rect",clipboard
I get a window with a black rectangle in it.

What did I do wrong?

Any help is greatly appreciated!
