   I am just getting started in this TeX thing, and I seem to find myself 
confused about which xxTeX uses .xxx file to describe what.  I think I know what 
a .tex file is, and may have an understanding of .dvi, but .sty, .pk, .dot, 
.tfm, .fmt, .mf, .cmd, .bib, .etc. overwhelm me.  Is there a document anywhere 
which explains in brief detail what the standard accepted extensions mean, which 
versions of TeX use which ones, and for what?  If not, I would happily compile 
such a reference provided some wizzards.TeX would be willing to mail me the 
necessary information for the version of TeX in which they have obtained wizzard 
status.
