Our configuration is as follows: Master server decstation 5000/200 ultrix 4.1 Slave server macII a/ux Slave only 2 decstation 2100's, 1 decstation 3100, 20 macII's This particular problem only happens on the decstation 3100 (running ultrix 4.1). When I try to rlogin from another machine with rlogin bloss.cs.vt.edu -l lat or just rlogin bloss.cs.vt.edu I get the following: No directory! Logging in with home=/ (last login line, then contents of /etc/motd) /u1/lat: Permission denied Connection closed. This does not happen with telnet or ftp. This does not happen if I make the login local instead of through yellow pages. This also does not happen if i do the following: rlogin bloss.cs.vt.edu -l foo Password: login: lat Password: (my password) Last login: (blah blah blah) Something is screwy somewhere, but I'm not sure where. I have rebooted everything except the master server, but i can't believe that's the problem because this does not happen on any other machine. What am I missing here?
