Myself, I beleive a Society must care not only for its children, but the old, sick, disabled and also just as important, the poor, in the main however, I find that disabled people are considered at a lower level than many other sections of society.. Here in the UK, for so long envied in the world, for its superb health care and social services structure, has now seen more cuts in every aspect of society care, than any other, this past 20 years.. I am sorry to say this, but I place the blame on the rich greedy few, who dominate society, pretending to care, while profiting at the cost of others, living their lives with a false public front, pretending to care, while in truth, they resent us even being alive.. There is an attitude here in the UK, where a worker resents paying taxes, to see some of that money being used for payments to unemployed, social services, child care, education.. Something like, "Let them get off their buts and earn a livin".. I really do hate that attitude, as I worked for over 25 years, paid my taxes etc, but never resented some of that money going to assist those in need, I did however resent tax payments paying some governmental individuals a million dollars a year, as a service director, when we all know its the worker on the shop floor who does the real work and that same director resents it when that worker askes for enough money in his pocket to feed, cloth and house his family.. Yes, somewhere we in the democratic nations have got it wrong, caring for others is very important, all societies MUST do this, use its riches to ensure all people are healthy, educated, housed correctly and fed.. When Charities call for money to help in famin areas, I feel so sad, that people in any nation, dig deep into their pockets, but find this so hard to do when faced with poverty and deprivation, in their own countries, they prefere to pretent the problem does not exist.. Shame on them.. I know there will be millions out there who do not agree with me, but what would they do with disabled people such as myself, take us to the vet, have us put down, or starve to death, the choice is theirs...One day they too could become disabled, for one reason or another.. Perhaps one day, those in a position to help, will do so, thos in goverment throughout the world should face up the their responsibilities now, before its too late.. Best wishes to all, especially those who care... May God be with you.. Cliff -- Uucp: ..!{decvax,oliveb}!bunker!hcap!hnews!2!254!44!Cliff.Jones Internet: Cliff.Jones@f44.n254.z2.fidonet.org
