I'm pretty ignorant when it comes to bird song (but plan
to learn!).  I can identify your average robin, cardinal, etc.
Pretty sorry, right?  Anyway, a few nights ago I heard an
intriguing sound from the marshy woods behind my house (I
live 40 miles west of Chicago).  It was a sound like a child
makes when playing Indian - about 12-15 ooo sounds than would
rise in volume, then fall off.

Please don't tell me this was a frog - isn't it too early for
them?
