I just built gcc for my system and I now want to install the info
files that came with it. I am running emacs-18.55 and the rev of the
file emacs/man/texinfo.tex is 1.26. The rev of the texinfo.tex file
that came with gcc-1.39 is 2.1. When I run texinfo-format-buffer it
craps out when it runs into @ref. There is a \def\ref in the 2.1
version of texinfo.tex, but I don't understand where to put the file
to make it work. I tried emacs/man and I also tried
/usr/lib/tex/macros. I am a new TeX user and I really dont know what
Im doing yet. Could someone please tell me what the steps are?
