Try the Terminal program that comes with Windows 3.0.
You can install it as a 'program item' after you set it up for Portal and
it will show up on your desktop with the 'Terminal' icon with the name
'Portal' or whatever you choose to name it. Using Windows Terminal also has
another advantage; that is you can copy and paste between any of the Windows
editors like Write or Word directly into the Portal screen. This is a nice
alternative to vi or ed. You can also set the Windows Terminal screen buffer
to 256 lines,which is the max for the Portal 'form'. So set up forms general
to the 'line' mode and the 'y' parameter to 256(that's lines), and set
Windows screen buffer to 256(lines), and you can compose doc.'s in a Windows
editor(I use Notepad or Write) that are up to 256 lines and paste them right
into the Portal screen. That's how I wrote and edited this article with
Windows Notepad.
