Turns out the problem was with Compaq's CACHE.EXE (I am using Compaq DOS 4.01). The utilities that come with the DOS (cache, expanded mem manager, etc) are *totally* incompatible with any non-Compaq bios. I had all sorts of problems (lockups, funny keyboard behavior esp the shift keys). Are you using any proprietry DOS not for that machine? Also, if your machine is a true-blue 386 then use BlueMax instead of 386Max. /******************************************************************************* ** Craig D.
