I've not heard of this sort of problem being reported by any other
users.  Hardware problem?  If anybody else has experienced an ATK
application apparently causing your machine to kick the bucket, please
send some e-mail my way.

It may indeed help. I'm in the middle of testing out the new code on a
SunOS4.1 machine.  If everything seems kosher, maybe you can beta-test
for me.
