Those files may stay in their JANUS subdirectory. Though, if you invoke any driver (like JDISK.SYS) in your CONFIG.SYS, then that file must naturally be available at boot time. >3. One hardware problem you can always run into with any bridgeboard are contact problems, especially with all those socketed ICs. It's a good idea to take the whole board out, look at every chip closely and take it out and reseat it, if it doesn't sit straight in its socket. Finally you should press every IC firmly into its socket. Then properly reseat the board.
