Unlike CHAOS STRIKES BACK, where you MUST have the rope, DM has only one or two spots where it is useful. One of these is on the RAT LEVEL where there is a jewell in a chest behind a gate witha lever. Pulling the lever drops the chest down a pit, so you go up one level and drop down a pit to be on the other side of the gate. However, you could easily just fall through! Doesn't kill you! Even in CHAOS, you can survive a fall through several levels!
