I've had a quick look at the IR reader posted in comp.sys.amiga.sources
posted by Ron Peterson and have one minor mod to make. The instructions
that come with the Rad Shack IR detector do not say this, but the 
Semiconductor Reference Guide does ... you should ground the case of the
IR module. It dramatically reduced the number of false starts that my
IR program received.
