The Mace 5 undelete utility also works, though you need Code Blue to get the full screen display (Code Blue is not necessary if you do not need to answer prompts, or if you know beforehand what they are). However, I keep my disks de-fragmented. Undelete utilities can have considerable trouble with fragmented files. To attempt recovery of fragmented files, you can try Norton's NU version 4 advanced edition. Load it with the command NU/D2/BW and use WordStar-style control keys to move around. The cursor keys are control-D, control-S, control-X, and control-E, for example. The Rainbow arrow and function keys send the escape character, which aborts the current operation, or ultimately, the program. Good luck--you will have to make some guesses if you want to recover fragmented files. DEBUG can also be used to recover deleted files, but you need fairly technical knowledge. - --- Opus-CBCS 1.12 * Origin: Glacier Peak Rainbow, Bellevue, WA - 206/644-8431 (1:343/3.0) ------------------------------ Date: 22 Mar 91 23:48 -0500 From: DAVID MAROUN To: GEORGE THEALL Subject: RE: VT200 EMULATION Recent versions of KERMIT allow VT200 emulation. - --- Opus-CBCS 1.12 * Origin: Glacier Peak Rainbow, Bellevue, WA - 206/644-8431 (1:343/3.0) ------------------------------ Date: 22 Mar 91 23:50 -0500 From: DAVID MAROUN To: GEORGE THEALL Subject: RE: KERMIT For Rainbow and DECmate software (notably the operating systems and graphics options) and some hardware at *very* low cost, contact Randy Bruce, Kwantlen College, 12666-72nd Avenue, Surrey, BC, Canada; telephone (604) 599-2121. - --- Opus-CBCS 1.12 * Origin: Glacier Peak Rainbow, Bellevue, WA - 206/644-8431 (1:343/3.0) ------------------------------ Date: 23 Mar 91 06:44 -0500 From: DON MARQUART To: NOLAN LEE Subject: FLOPPY DISKETTE DENSITIES > I tried using some of the high density disks in the Rainbow but had > formatting problems with them. They also cost alot more:-). Stick with the standard density disks for use with the RB. Particularly, General Ledger. If so, please call me. I'd like to purchase it or have it donated. I am treasurer for a non-profit choral society and I use the Bow to keep the books. Peachtree software would make it so much simpler than 1-2-3 which I'm using now. Thanks!! I have just a single copy of DOS 2.05, and that floppy is becoming unreadable. Anyone have a current version I can have or know where it can be otherwise obtained? Is DOS actually still *sold* for the 'Bow? I created a dummy little text file of several lines using EDLIN. I then used PRINT to see what would happen. It printed only a single line of garbage characters. The LA-50 came with no documentation and I am quite ignorant concerning the proper configuration, setup and use of the 'Bow. Could someone tell me what I may be doing wrong, or what manual to look in to properly hook it and up and use it? Thanks!
