Message-ID: <000064B@ki4pv.compu.com> Date: 27 Mar 91 23:27:10 GMT Sender: daemon@ucbvax.BERKELEY.EDU Organization: The Internet Lines: 26 I have recently purchased a copy of Venix (essentially v7 unix) for the Rainbow (thanks Dan !) . I am looking for someone who has a later version than mine ( I have 2.0), as mine only supports a hard disk with 4 surfaces (I have an RD53 w/ 8.) I got Venix 2.0 installed just fine on a friend's 20 Meg drive which he loaned me for experimentation, and even got UUCP working ( no small feat, given the weak documentation.) However, that drive has 4 surfaces. On my drive, Venix skips tracks in groups of 4 ( It writes 4 tracks, then skips 4 tracks.) I know that there is a later version that supports the RD53. If you have it, please send me some e-mail or reply through this group, so we can talk. I really need some help with this, as the company that most recently sold Venix ( Boston Software Works) no longer sells or supports it in any way. If you know anything about this, or know anybody who knows anything, PLEASE HELP ! -- -mgb ...{killer,allegra,decvax!ucf-cs,uflorida}!ki4pv!macs!mgb : UUCP mgb@stetson : BITNET
