Hi there,

Does anyone have any idea on a method to disable the message area on the HP 48
(ie.  Current Path,  Halt, User, Usr1, Entry mode, etc)?  In addition, a method
to write to this area would be helpful.  I've tried using a program such as

<< "linefeed char" 1 DISP 3 FREEZE >>

This works to temporarily cover up the message area, but dissapears when a key
is hit.  I know of the sysevals to turn on and off the various annunciators, 
but does anyone know of of any that deal with the message area?
