The solution was to make suitcase load after atm. This is not as simple as adding a ~ in front of suitcases name since, at least under b1 (I havent checked this under b4), the system loaded all the inits from the extensions folder (where suitcase is by default) followed by those in the control panels folder. So, I had to rename suitcase and put it in the c.p. folder. Now, at the same time as I switched to b4, I upgraded suitcase to 1.29 (from 1.28) and the problem went away. I wasn't sure which upgrade caused the fix, but it seems (from the fact that you are having the problem even under b4) that it was the suitcase upgrade that caused the fix. Now the new problem, at the same time as moving to 70b4 I got the newest version of silverlining (5.28) which has 32-bit clean drivers. Unfortunately, atm (2.0) dies on me in 32-bit addressing mode. Specifically, as soon as any application gets to the point of drwaing any atm-rendered text it quits with the error message: The application "unknown" has quit because an error of type 1 occurred. I get this message (with the "unknown") independent of the application that died. I called adobe tech and they said they had had no problems with 7.0b4 but when I pressed about 32-bit mode the tech admitted she wasn't sure. She said she sort of remembered something about 32 bit (though for a while she was confused and insisted that atm works fine "with 32 bit quickdraw"). She said she would have a senior tech call me tomorrow, so we'll see what happens.
