Keywords: LC, abroad Message-ID: <1991Mar24.165250.4901@dartvax.dartmouth.edu> Date: 24 Mar 91 16:52:50 GMT Sender: news@dartvax.dartmouth.edu (The News Manager) Organization: Dartmouth College, Hanover, NH Lines: 17 Originator: changwoo@eleazar.dartmouth.edu A friend of mine wants to buy a Mac LC and 12" color monitor. However, in a near future he will move to Hong Kong where different voltage and frequency are used (220V and 50Hz? Please correct me if I am wrong). So the question is: can he use Mac LC and the monitor in Hong Kong without any modifications? Voltage problem, I think, is relatively minor. I suppose the voltage step-down transformer is easy to find, so I don't think buying LC in the US should matter. However, I am more concerned with the 12" color monitor; I haven't seen any device that changes the sweep frequency from 60 Hz to 50 Hz. As an alternative, I suppose he could buy a LC here and a 50 Hz VGA monitor in Hong Kong later, but he would prefer not to. Chang -- Chang P. Woo Chang.P.Woo@dartmouth.EDU
