The friction feed seems to avoid problems with the top line getting squished, inconsistant top margins, and wasted paper between printouts. The only drawback is having to sit around and hand-feed paper to the printer, so I'm considering buying Apple's automatic sheet feeder. I'm hoping that someone who has used Apple's ImageWriter II sheet feeder can answer some questions for me: 1. Does it reliably feed single sheets, or do sheets tend to stick together and get jammed in the printer? How often do jams occur? 2. Do certain kinds of paper work better than others? 3. Is is easily removable for times when I must use pin-fed paper, like pin-fed checks? (I'm pretty sure that you can't use pin-fed paper with the sheet feeder in place.) 4. Can I use "laser labels" in my ImageWriter once I have a sheet feeder? (Assuming, of course, that I have appropriate layout software.) Other comments on the ImageWriter sheet feeder are also welcome. --Stuart A. Malone samalone@athena.mit.edu
