Herb,

Your problem is probably that you've got Rev. A ROMs in that "old" Mac II
and there should have been some notice from Apple indicating that the 8*24 GC
requires Rev. B ROMs.  Rev. B ROMs are supposed to be FREE with a motherboard
swap from an Apple dealer.
