Basically, my problem is, I have a full pathname and I need to get the vRefNum and the DirID for it. I have tried using PBGetFInfo, but it seems to hang my machine. I have seen the code for getting a pathname from a filename and dirid in the usenet programming guide, I just need to do the reverse. Any suggestions? Is there a toolbox call for this, or do I need to strip off the volume name and go down subdirectory by subdirectory? Any help would be much appreciated.
