I don't read this newsgroup frequently, so I'm sorry if this question is asked the 1001. time. My problem is the following: I plan to buy a NeXT and run some common *IX-Software on it, especially CNews. I would like just to compile the Software ( and may be make some minor changes in the Source, but I don't want to have much trouble ) and know it will run without any bigger problems. My NeXT-dealer ( of course ;-) assures, that Mach is on source-code-level *fully* compatible to BSD4.3 Unix. Is this true ? Has anyone discovered any incompatibilities or made expriences in running CNews on a NeXT ? Must I expect difficulties in compiling common *IX-Sources ?
