Thank you everyone who gave me suggestions! Here's the summary:

I downloaded [sumex-aim.stanford.edu]<info-mac>unix>macps-22.shar
as suggested by several people. After setting the flags (read
"Installation") and compiling it, I printed laserprep by printing
an empty file with opt-k with laserwriter, put that in the designated
directory, and macps was then installed.

Now, I take my file I want to print, print it with laserwriter with
opt-f then ftp the postscript file to the unix machine, and use macps
to print it, and it all works!
