I have a 4D/20 with 3.2 and I have succesfully compiled perl 4.0
patchlevel 44.

BUT DON'T USE GLOBAL OPTIMIZATION. I had to use the -O1 flag instead
of the default -O flag (the same as -O2) while compiling. Maybe the
perl source code needs some volatile statements here and there 8) .
