The following works:

$ uname -a
UNIX_System_V jake 4.0 Beta3j Amiga m68020
$ 
$ cd /etc/init.d
$ ./nfs start
$ cd /etc/dfs
$ share -F nfs -d / / blah
$ 

jake's root fs may then be NFS-mounted from "basser" (a MIPS RS3230).
