There seems to be a problem with rlogin or rlogind. I can rlogin to other systems from the Microvax just fine. However, when I try to rlogin to the Microvax from anywhere, I get an error "can't open /dev/console. Too many open files". In /usr/spool/mqueue/syslog, I get an entry "rlogind not found, /dev/ttypb" (the entry has some other numbers and is spaced out funny like something is missing from the error message). The entry for rlogind is ok in /etc/inetd.conf, the sym links for rlogind and login are all ok and point to the executables. The ttyp and ptyp files are in /dev. Seems to me it should work. It did work for Ultrix 3.x and before. (We didn't run Ultrix 4.0). Other possible relavent info: we are running DNS (systems are clients only) and YP (systems are clients only) , do not have LAT, and did not load Decnet. I vagely seem to recall some discussion about an rlogin problem after Ultrix 4 came out but didn't follow the thread. So, my question is, what is the cause of this problem and how should I get it fixed. Thanks. Steve Mestad
