This should be in "most frequently asked questions".

Yes, you have a problem.  Not only with SmartDrive, but lots of other
disk-type utilities.  I used to have an 80meg disk and SSTOR.SYS but gave up
after the n'th program bombed.  Then I used fdisk to format the first 1024
tracks (about 62 meg) and now everything works.
